Dear Parents & Members,

Can I take this opportunity to say thank you to all our members and parents for your support at our award evening last night. More details to follow.

There will be no BB & GA on Monday 3rdDecember.

On Tuesday 4th December it’s our members Christmas party at Bickershaw labour club starting at 7pm and finishing at 9pm.

This is a non uniform evening for all our members and their families, members can also bring along a friend.

We encourage all parents to stay and enjoy the evening with us. The bar will be open and drinks are reasonably priced.

This is the last event of the year for us and then we shut for the Christmas holidays.

Could I please ask if you would kindly donate some cans for the Harvest festival. We are collecting for both Abram & Bickershaw church and any cans you could give us would be very much appreciated.

Cans to be brought to BB&GA on either Monday /Tuesday or give us a ring and we will pick them up.

All cans collected will be split down the middle and given to each Church.

Dear Members , Parents, Sponsors & Friends of the community,

On Monday 3rd September at Bickershaw Labour Club, Bickershaw, WN2 5TE we are having a starting back disco from 7pm till 9pm. We’ve got some cracking news about the event,  Mr Andrew Smith will be coming along will his Olympic torch and you can have your photo taken with it. We will be taking photos but please feel free to bring along your own camera.

 Andrew was one of the four people who carried the torch through Abram and we would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for giving us his free time.  Also on the night we’ve got a balloon modeller to entertain you. This evening is open to all BB & GA members their families and friends. We encourage all our members to bring along their friends. The evening is totally free of charge so why not come along and support this event.

Adults are more than welcome to stay, with drinks at the bar very reasonably priced.

15th Wigan BB & GA starts back at Abram School on Monday & Tuesday 10th & 11th September. There have been some changes made over the summer holidays and it’s with great pleasure I tell you we have a new Officer in charge of the Junior section Michelle Hudson. Dear Parents, members and friends of the community,

 

On Saturday 2nd June we had our sponsored walk along the seafront at Arnside, Lake District. For one of the few days this summer the weather was glorious and we had a good time and more importantly a safe day. We are now collecting in our sponsor monies. If you have kindly sponsored us and it’s very much appreciated could you please drop off the monies at Lesley McKenzie’s 4 Simpkin Street, Abram. Alternatively give me a ring and I’ll make arrangements to have picked up from your home. All monies made from this walk go towards our annual award evening 2012.

 

On Thursday 31st May the Olympic torch came to Abram and what a fantastic day it was. The rain did not dampen the spirits and what a super turn out in the village. Dear Parents & Members, 

I can now announce the details of this year’s sponsored walk to raise monies for our annual award evening in November. I have listened to officers, parents and members before planning this event and took the following into consideration. 

Can members of the BB & GA take part?  

Could the event be made easy so everybody can take part and help raise money for the Company? 

Can the event be on a Saturday so people can relax on the Sunday before work on the Monday? 

Would it be possible to do a picnic when planning your sponsored event this year? 

Can the event take place just before the Brigade finish for summer holidays? This hopefully will be good weather.  

The sponsored walk is a seafront walk at Arnside, Lake District and will take place on Saturday 2nd June. This will be open to all officers, parents, members and their families.   The walk is level and easy to complete with a total distance of just over 2.2 miles (3.6km) which will include a picnic. The walk will finish at the Albion public house so people who wish so can have a drink and relax before we start our journey home. 

I will be putting on a coach for this event and the price will depend on how many people are on the coach. If you are interested in doing the walk or need more information please contact me. More details to follow regarding the route on the day.

All monies made from this event go to our annual award evening 2012. Without these sponsored events we would not be able to hold an award evening.

On Monday 23rdApril there will be no Boys’ Brigade & Girls Association at Abram School as we are having our Junior Section & Company Section Ten Pin Bowling Competition at AMF Bowling, Wallgate, Wigan, WN3 4EA.

 

The cost is £3.95 per member and this is for one game of bowls plus shoe hire and a free soft drink. This is a non uniform evening.

 

Could our Junior & Company section members be dropped off at 6.20pm ready for the game to start at 6.30pm.

 

All members will be ready to be picked up by parents at 7.30pm.

On Monday 19thMarch our Junior & Company section visited Ashton Broadwings and on Tuesday 27th March Ashton Broadwings visited us.

Both nights were a massive success and our members and officers had a fabulous time. We would like to take this opportunity to thank both Paul & Mike of Ashton Broadwings for giving us their time and making us feel so welcome.

Dear Junior & Company section Parents & Members,

 

There will be no Junior & Company section BB & GA on Monday 19th March

at Abram School. Instead we are visiting Ashton Broadwings birds of

prey centre, 99 Ashton Heath Farm, Ashton in Makerfield WN4 9JL.

 

Can members please be dropped off at the farm at 6.20pm so we are

ready to start at 6.30pm, members will ready to be picked up at

8pm.This is a non-uniform event and totally free of charge.

 

The 15th Wigan BB & GA would like to express its gratitude to Ashton

Broadwings, Paul & Michelle Hudson for allowing us to visit the centre

free of charge.

 

Ashton Broadwings will be visiting our Anchor section on Tuesday 27th

On Tuesday 28th February we had our 15th Wigan BB & GA family roller skating evening at Wigan Roller rink. We had a fantastic turnout out with 140 people enjoying the evening.

Additional protective items can be hired and the owners have said that anybody with their own skates, knee, elbow and wrist protection can bring them along on the night.

On Sunday 5th February we are holding 15th Wigan BB & GA Church parade

service at Abram Church. The service starts at 9:30am and finishes at

10:30am.Can members please be in Church for 9:20am in full uniform.

 

We encourage parents and their families to join us for the service and

this year we are introducing parents/families sitting with us for the

service. If parents can’t make it members can be dropped off at 9:20am

and picked up at 10:30am.

 

Could we please ask that our members attend this service, it’s only

for an hour and we are supporting our Church and community.
