For all we do and when we do it, please see our members letters below.
One of our member’s parent is running the Rock & Roll half Marathon in Liverpool on Sunday 29th May. Stuart Jackson has kindly said he will do the run for 15th Wigan BB & GA.
The run starts 9am at the Albert Dock, Liverpool Waterfront and finishes at the Liverpool Echo Arena, Liverpool Waterfront.
We are currently fundraising for a car trailer and all monies made from this sponsored run will go towards our trailer fund.
If you would like to sponsor Stuart, please visit our website www.15thwiganbb.co.uk for a sponsor form or email 15thwigan@gmail.com
Dear Members and Parents,
On Sunday 9th November it is the Remembrance Sunday Parade in Abram. Can all members please be in Abram school yard for 9.45am in full uniform so that we are ready to start the parade at 10.00am.
At 10.00am the parade leaves the school yard turning left along Simpkin Street and then taking a left turn at the junction of Warrington Road. We continue to walk along Warrington Road arriving at church around 10.20am ready for the service to begin at 10.30am. After the service the parade assembles down the side of the church and follows the same route returning to Abram School for dispersal around 11.50am.
Joining us for the parade and service this year is our local councillors Martyn Smethurst and Eunice Smethurst.
All members who attend will receive a cross with a poppy on to take home and a Remembrance medal that will be presented at our Annual award evening on Tuesday 25th November. The Company wreath, poppies and crosses have been purchased from the Royal British legion poppy appeal and I know you will agree it’s a very worthy cause.
As a company we only parade once a year, please make every effort to attend this very important remembrance parade as we remember the millions of people who gave their life for this country. Please try to get a poppy for your son or daughter to parade in. If you can’t, don’t worry we will have the British Legion poppy box with us and you can make a donation and get a poppy on the morning of the parade.
Regarding safety, I have arranged as in previous years safety marshals to parade with us. They will be wearing high visibility jackets and they will help along with the Police to keep all our members safe on the roads.
Order of parade,
15th Wigan BB & GA
Abram School
Abram Scouts
Members of our community
Please note: you do not have to be a member of one of the above groups to walk in this parade.
Please take time to read the safety information below
Please be aware of potentially hazardous areas listed below.

Dear Parents, Members, sponsors & friends of the company,
On Monday 20th we had a community bingo event at Abram School. This was for parents, members, sponsors and friends of the company. We had a great turnout and played six games of a line and full house. Total prize money given out on the night was £225 and we also provided free refreshments.
In our last two community bingo evenings we have given £400 in prize money. 15th Wigan BB & GA have not made any monies from our community bingo nights.
The purpose of these evenings is to get members, parents, sponsors, friends of the company together to have a fun evening at a very reasonable cost.
We are changing the way we communicate on facebook. The page 15th Wigan Boys Brigade & 15th Wigan Girls Association is no longer being used. Instead we are using facebook account Steven Hyde to communicate all BB & GA events.
Please search Steven Hyde for all 15th Wigan BB & GA events. We are using this for information purposes only.
Dear Parents and members,
We start back after the holidays on Monday & Tuesday 20th & 21st
January and we wish all our members and their families a happy new year. This
year is very special for the company with us celebrating 70 years in Abram.
We are starting with a bingo evening and all monies taken on this evening go straight into cash prizes. At our last bingo night in November 2013
we gave away £175 in cash
prizes. 15th Wigan BB & GA make no monies from these nights.
On
Monday 20th January we are having a bingo
evening at Abram school. This event
starts at 6.30pm and finishes around 7.45pm and is for our members in our
Anchor, Junior and Company sections and their family/friends. The cost is £1
per person which also includes a book of bingo cards. Additional books can be
purchased if you wish. We will not be taking subs on this evening and it’s a
non uniform event.
We will be having six games of bingo playing for a line and full house in all six games. Whatever monies we take on the door will go into cash prizes for the bingo and we will not be making any monies from this evening. We have purchased bingo software and we will use a laptop, projector and screen to run the bingo games.
We will also provide free biscuits and soft drinks for all attending.
The purpose of these evenings is to get members, parents and their family/friends together to have a fun evening at a very reasonable cost.
Dear Officers, Parents & Members,
On Monday night we had our Christmas party in Abram school. Thank you to all parents & officers who kindly donated food for our party.
All our members received a Christmas card, photo and their achievement
awards. The joint winners of the best fancy dress in the Anchor section were Patrick Curry and Harley Heyes Jones. The Joint winners of the Junior section were Lewis Crosby & Abigail Skarkey.
In the next week all photos of Award Evening and Remembrance Sunday parade will be on our website. Photos of all winning members and family photos will be emailed directly to parents. I will let you know once these are on the site.
The 15th Wigan BB & GA is now closed for the Christmas holidays and we start back in January 2014. Can I take this opportunity on behalf of myself and officers of the company to
wish all our members and
their families a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

Dear Friends,
On Sunday 14th July officers, parents and friends of the company took part in a sponsored bike ride from Manchester to Blackpool to raise monies for the 15th Wigan BB & GA.
It was a glorious day and perfect conditions for cycling. The main group broke into two groups for the 64 miles with one group coming in at 4 hours & 5 minutes and the other group at 4hours & 30 minutes. Best of all everybody finished without any accidents/incidents to report.
Pictures of the bike ride are on our sitehttp://www.15thwiganbb.co.uk/ gallery, 2013. We have also added some pictures of previous bike rides on our gallery tab.
The company would like to express its gratitude to the following cyclists who took part Steven Hyde, Andrew Spencer, Andrew Dean, George Ainsworth, Harry Hemsley, Robert Bailey, Ryan McKenzie, Dave Haskayne & Ian Phillps.
A special thanks to Gary & Dawn Holding & Tom Peters owners of the Wigan Roller Rink for kindly sponsoring the event for us and not forgetting Michelle & Katie Hudson who did a great job running the water station keeping us hydrated.
Once we have collected in all our sponsor monies I will let you know the amount raised.
Regards
Steven Hyde
